Call for Proposals: Frontier Science Grants

The Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE) is excited to announce a new series of Frontier Science Grants funded by SSE member Josh Mitteldorf, Ph.D. These grants support bold, carefully designed experiments that push beyond conventional boundaries and test hypotheses that mainstream science has overlooked, dismissed, or never dared to examine. 

These grants reflect Dr. Mitteldorf’s conviction that scientific progress depends on researchers willing to explore unasked questions, unsettled anomalies, and unconventional mechanisms with methodological integrity.  Researchers from all disciplines — independent investigators, academic scientists, or early‑career scholars — are invited to submit proposals

In Memory of Stephen E. Braude

Our extraordinary colleague and friend, Steve Braude is gone, passing from this world on January 3, 2026. Our community of psi-interested people lost a wonderful example of the curiosity and rigorous thinking that defines us at our best. Steve was a professional philosopher but his wide ranging intelligence informed him deeply in many fields of intellectual relevance to the study of psi and anomalies. As a result, his books, papers, and essays became go-to classics for researchers in our field looking for theoretical and practical perspectives on the remarkable phenomena and data we explore.

The Society for Scientific Exploration provides a critical international forum for sharing original research on unconventional topics and furthering our understanding of human capabilities.

The society is fully donor and member-funded, with contributions providing support for the open access dissemination  of research through a peer-reviewed journal and SSE-hosted conferences where professional researchers and interested members of the public engage with one another to advance science.

Anyone can join the society by making an annual contribution, with the membership level dependent on level of contribution and academic status. All contributions are tax deductible.
